Robert
Parker’s The Wine Advocate February
2007 90 points
"The 2004 Montgó
is a blend of 60% Monastrell, 25% Shiraz, and 15%
Cabernet Sauvignon. Opaque purple in color, it possesses
an expressive nose of earth, fungi, blackberry, and
blueberry liqueur. It has considerably more depth
and concentration than its younger sibling as well
as the structure for a couple of years of evolution.
However, at its selling price, most purchasers will
be pulling the trigger sooner rather than later."

Joelle
Thomson, writing in the New Zealand Herald,
reviewed "top-tasting, modern Spanish reds, which
have shed the dusty flavours of old and now wear the
flash new coat of high quality, without the attendant
price tags."
"2004 Montgó Yecla
Monastrell Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon If you've
been bowled over by the high quality and low prices
of Australian reds, check out this massively powerful
red from Spain. It's a blend of the Spanish grape,
monastrell, with better known shiraz and cabernet
sauvignon. Its broad shoulders are balanced with fresh
fruit flavours and a long, elegant finish."
